Have you ever thought about how to pass "the courier" or "the witness," (the metal bar or similar material used in relay races)? In these races, it is not a single man or woman who wins the race, but the entire team. Each one does his portion of the race, with "the courier in hand". When his part of the race ends, he passes "the courier" to the next runner and so on until one of the teams in the race wins the medal, or, in the past, the crown. (2 Tim 4: 7-8)
Metaphorically, the runners are the sowers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. "The courier or witness" is the message (the testimony and teachings of Jesus). The race is the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Mark 16:15).
From beginning to end, the Bible teaches the importance of parents, both natural and spiritual (pastors and teachers), instructing their children with the Words of God. Proverbs 22: 6 states: "Train the child in his way and even when he is old he will not turn away from him." Creating an environment of discipleship through instruction in the Word and, for example, as Jesus did, is the messenger we should pass on to our natural and spiritual children.
One of the great challenges in homes and in the church is the strong influence of culture through the media that constantly battles the minds and hearts of both young people and adults.
A program of Bible studies that is dynamic, visual and practical is very necessary to achieve this goal of passing the "Estafeta." This process should begin from birth or come to church, forming a close relationship between parents and children, teacher and students, teaching the Word so that when confronted with the alternatives presented by culture and society for life, they can have a solid foundation to continue in the race.
The future of Sunday school is to recreate a culture within the home and the church that studies and applies biblical teachings with devotion, practice and dynamism. When we finish our career, the goal is not only to win, but also to be able to pass "the courier" to others so that the work of the Master Jesus continues to be extended.
