Purpose: To understand and understand that it is only through a true commitment to purity that we can be in the presence of God.
Introduction: PURIFICATION, PURIFICATION, PURE According to the law of Moses, purification was a ceremony required to cleanse or free an object, a place or a person from ritual impurity. . This was obtained by washing, or spraying accompanied by religious ceremonies prescribed by the Mosaic Law. . The laws of purity are recorded especially in Lev 11-16. These form the third section of the book, dedicated to defining the terms of purity and ritual impurity. It also sets the rules to which, to recover the permitido purity, had to submit all that-or all that-had incurred some kind of impurity. This section closes with a description of the rites of the great day of atonement (in Hebrew), which all the people must celebrate on the 10th day of the seventh month of each year.
The ritual impurity was acquired by eating forbidden food, by suffering from certain skin diseases, by touching a corpse or a oneroso, by coming into contact with blood, and for other reasons. Such impurity incapacitated the person to take part in the cult and, consequently, to enter into communion with God. The concept of purity in the Old Testament has a figurative sense in caudillo, and filth, idolatry, etc. are applied to sin.
"Cleanse" the idolatry of Judah (2 Chronicles 34: 3, 8) Offer an offering for sin (Psalm 51: 7, 12), "cover, forgive or atone" for guilt (Psalm 65: 3; 79: 9; Ezekiel 43: 20, 26) "refine" (Isaiah 1:25), "wash" or "rinse" (Isaiah 4: 4)
It was not exactly honesto impurity. The prophets denounced the latter with all energy, and warned the people that the ritual and external purity has no value before God when it is not accompanied by honesto purity, which consists in obeying the divine precepts that demand a clean life, governed by mercy, justice, love of God and neighbor and fidelity. Jesus, who essentially respected the precepts relating to ritual purity, preached the absolute supremacy of honesto purity, the "clean heart," which is the only thing that allows one to "see" God and enter into communion with him. According to the NT, true purification, which is the work of the Holy Spirit, is achieved when a person turns to God through faith in Christ.
And it is in this way that we must make our effort to maintain purity in aspects of our life such as:
I.- THE PURITY OF MY MOUTH. Proverbs 4: 24
The Lord tells us: "Put away the wickedness of the mouth from you, and put away the iniquity of the lips from you."
It is very clear that our Father is interested in our way of speaking being transformed. Proverbs 10: 11 teaches that: "The mouth of the just is the fountain of life; but violence will cover the mouth of the wicked. "
God establishes a difference between the way of speaking of one of his children (fair) with the way of speaking of one who is not his son (impíos):
"The lips of the just know how to speak what pleases; but the mouth of the wicked speaks perversities. " Proverbs 10: 32
"He who keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul in anguish." Proverbs 21:23.
This is one of the truths, concerning the word of our mouth, that we should never underestimate. Being clean in our word is pleasing to our Father: Proverbs 18: 4 says: "Deep waters are the words of man's mouth; and the brook that overflows, the fountain of wisdom. "
We have to take care as we speak:
Do not praise yourself. Proverbs 27: 2.
Do not talk hastily. Ecclesiastes 5: 2
Do not let your mouth make you sin. Ecclesiastes 5: 6
Our Savior Jesus Christ taught that the words of our mouth can contaminate and do more harm than any food we eat. Matthew 15: 11-19.
The instructions for the children of God in Ephesians 5: 3 – 8 and in Colossians 3: 4-10 are quiebro clear in the sense that our speech must be totally modified, because of the presence of Christ in our hearts.
Read these passages and carefully analyze their reference to the use of our mouth and the words that we say with it.
Ephesians 5: 4 teaches us that we must be very careful with the expressions of our mouth: "Neither dishonest words, nor foolishness, nor foolishness that does not fit, but rather thanksgiving." This means that we should not say:
*** THE BLASPHEMY
*** THE DISHONEST WORDS
In our day the language has degenerated to such a degree that even those of us who are children of God are involved in the ways of speaking that the world handles.
But remember that this is not God's will for our life, He wants his children to speak in such a way that our way of speaking identifies us as their children.
II.- THE CLEANING OF OUR MIND. Ephesians 4: 22-24.
The Word says that: "As for our past way of life, we must DESPLOY OURSELVES from the old man who is VICIOUS according to deceitful desires, and who RENEWS us in the SPIRIT OF OUR MIND"
The word DESPOJARNOS indicates a personal and voluntary action in which we take off one garment to put on another. This word is used for us to understand that it is not God in person who will come to erase with our hand the negative thoughts of our mind. This word reveals the personal decision to take control of our thoughts and take the initiative to remove the thoughts that do not suit us or that are dirty and that do not glorify our God.
Another important word in this passage is: RENEW THAT you mean simply to redo something or someone again. And the most important thing is that the reference to RENEW (do something new), speaks directly of our mind, GOD WANTS TO RENEW OUR LIFE BUT ALSO WANTS TO RENEW OUR MIND.
The mind is our thinking capacity. The Bible says that according to how our thoughts are like this is our heart. Proverbs 23: 7
God our Father is not only interested in our spirit and our body and soul, he is also interested in reigning in our mind. Jeremiah 31:33; Hebrews 8:10; Matthew 22: 37 Mark 12:30; Luke 10: 27
After reading these passages that emphasize the desire of God to govern our mind and our thoughts, the most natural thing is that we ask ourselves: Why? Or even more: Why does my heavenly Father want to rule my mind? In seeking the answer in the Word we will understand that it is in order that our heart be controlled, since all the positive or negative things of our life come from it. "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies" Matthew 15:19.
If the Lord can or should we let him rule our mind, our whole life will be radically transformed, for our own benefit.
The Lord is interested in taking control of our thoughts because there is a close relationship between what our heart has and what is in our thinking.
Let's review some passages: Job 17: 11, Psalm 26: 2; 139: 23; Proverbs 6: 6 – 19; 19:21; Jeremiah 4:14; 20:12; 23:20; Daniel 2: 30; Matthew 9: 4; 15:19; Mark 7:21; Luke 5:22; 9:47; 24: 38. In all these passages we see that: OUR THOUGHTS COME FROM THE HEART AND THAT OUR HEART PRODUCES THE THOUGHTS.
Everything negative or bad that we come to think or put into practice in our daily life has its origin in our heart, in our mind. For this reason someone has commented that the area of work preferred by the devil is our mind.
IF YOU ACHIEVE PENETRATING OUR MIND THEN YOU HAVE ARRIVED IN OUR HEART, AND IF YOU ACHIEVE TO COME TO OUR HEART, THEN CONTROLS OUR MIND.
Our mind and our thoughts are very important to God our Father. He does not want us to think badly, He wants us to think well. Proverbs 15:26; 16: 3.
Philippians 4: 8 clearly reveals God's desire for us: "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, if something worthy of praise, IN THIS THOUGHT "
Each one of us is able to know when a thought is bad or good, that it gives glory to God or gives glory to the devil. Each one of us inside can distinguish when a thought is MINE or of the devil. We all have the ability to THINK about what we want to think and therefore Philippians 4: 8 tells us: "If you can", rather use an imperative, a commandment that can be fulfilled at will: IN THIS THOUGHT.
Renewing our life through the renewal of our mind is not something out of reality. Renewing our mind is the desire of our Father. Romans 12: 2 says: "It is not conform to this century, but TRANSFORMAOS through the RENEWAL of our UNDERSTANDING, so that you can verify what is the GOOD WILL OF GOD, pleasant and perfect". Understanding means "to understand in or with our mind, to accept it and apply it to our daily life" James 1: 22
BETTER WE SUBMIT THE LORD OUR MIND, THE MORE WE WILL BE RENEWED, AND THE MORE WE ARE RENEWED FROM OUR MIND, THE MORE WE WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THE WILL OF OUR FATHER IS NICE AND IS PERFECT.
It is in the process of the renewal of our mind that God wants to give us His peace and get to the point that our mind is the mind of Christ: Philippians 4: 7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus "
1 Corinthians 2: 16 "For who knew the mind of the Lord? Who will instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ "
When our mind thinks like Christ and is governed by the peace of God, we enter into a precious dimension of victorious lives. Let's take the decision to voluntarily DISPOSE of our past life and RENEW OUR MIND according to the will of OUR FATHER.
III.- THE CLEANING OF OUR SPIRIT. 1 Corinthians 6:20
"Because you have been bought by price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's "
In the text read previously the apostle Paul challenges us to glorify God not only with the body, but also with our spirit.
Something important that you must learn is that humans are, according to the Scripture, three entities merged into one (Trichotome). These entities are: Spirit, soul and body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Genesis 2: 7; Job 33: 4
The Spirit is the most intimate part of our being, and it is in that place where we receive salvation. Job 32: 8; John 3. 5.
The soul is the thinking and emotional part of our being, this is where we have our mind, our will and emotions.
Our body is the physical envelope of our spirit and our soul, this is where we have the five senses that are channels through which information enters the soul and the spirit.
The work of the enemy (satan) is to keep us in filth through sin and disobedience in our spirit, soul and body, to avoid our relationship with God our Father and to achieve that when we die we have eternal condemnation, along with it.
During the years that we live without Christ we have received a huge amount of negative information regarding God our Father and his son Jesus Christ. This is the main reason why our faith has been channeled to believe in many things that our Father abhors.
By believing in the things that our Father abhors, our spirit has become so dirty that our soul, thoughts, will and emotions have also been contaminated, resulting in a total lack of control of our life.
Now that we are in Christ, things are different and our whole being has been transformed. The Bible says that it has reborn us to a living hope. 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 1: 3. For this reason it is very important to take into account, our spiritual cleansing.
This cleansing of our spirit is very important in the eyes of God and to achieve it is that he has left us instructions in his word. The first thing is to take care that in the midst of the afflictions of our lives, our spirit does not turn against God our Father, blaming him for what happens to us. Job 15: 11-13; Psalm 106: 32-33.
Take care to keep ourselves without deception in our spirit, to achieve full happiness. Psalm 32: 2. The best way to achieve this is to continually ask for our spirit to be renewed. Psalm 51: 10. And within that renewal have the ability to maintain loyalty to people even knowing negative aspects of them. Proverbs 11: 12 – 13
Another way to maintain the cleanliness of our spirit is to be of humble spirit and to discard the haughtiness of our life. Proverbs 16: 18-19; Ecclesiastes 7: 8
Patience is another form of cleansing in the spirit that manifests itself in the daily expression of our character. Proverbs 14:29
The cleansing of our spirit is manifested in the control of our integral person, to such a degree God values this cleansing that makes important comparisons:
"Better is the one that takes to be angry than the strong one; and he that rules his spirit, he who takes a city "Proverbs 16: 32
"As a city torn down and without a wall is the man whose spirit has no reins" Proverbs 25: 28.
Some people think that the only way to keep our spirit clean is with external spiritual acts such as praying, reading the Bible, attending meetings, singing praises, etc. All this is important but many people do all this and yet do not live in an acceptable spiritual cleansing before God.
While doing what we have just mentioned, we must be willing to make the decision to keep our spirit clean, by applying the truths expressed in this study.
When things in our life become difficult, let us not hesitate to expose our anguish of spirit before our Father who loves us. Psalm 142: 2 – 3, 7. Whenever we seek Him, He will listen to us … let us offer our God our best offering: A broken spirit. Psalm 51. 17. And let your promise to be with us under this condition come true. Isaiah 57: 15 – 16.
There has to be a cómputo between the external (religious) and the internal (of the spirit) and each one of us has to take the initiative to achieve it with the help of our Father and Lord.
